Lincolnshire Peer Review programme

Schools in Lincolnshire supported by the County Council, have developed a partnership model of school improvement with the vision that

'Together we will support and challenge each other with mutual trust and mutual respect to raise standards in all our schools for all our children. Lincolnshire schools will lead the way in this approach’

CUREE was chosen by Lincolnshire Council and schools to provide the Peer Review development for Heads. Two alternative models were offered by other providers and school were free to choose the one they prefered. Fifty schools chose CUREE's evidence based co-developed version

Our Programme enabled school leaders to develop exceptional schools via peer review, embedded in collaborative, reciprocal enquiry. CUREE's years of experience in developing evidence based school improvement through professional development underpinned the design of the programme. Heads' confidence in modelling professional learning  was enhanced by:

  • working in groups of their choice, either existing or new for this project. The evidence shows that working in trios leads to a greater depth of analysis and calibration of data through triangulation.

  • scaffolded ‘doing’ which allows for immediate application to real situations in each school

  • providing enquiry tools to scaffold evidence collection, analysis and report writing.

By the end of the CUREE programme, the participants not just knew how to do peer review - they actually did one

The programme also developed understanding of how 5 key building blocks of school improvement operated and were aligned:

  • leadership of teaching, learning and the curriculum
  • the setting of aspirational goals and expectations for all pupils and educators
  • creation of a safe and orderly community for learning
  • the selection and use of resources
  • promotion and modelling of CPD.

The programme - which ran for a year - is now complete and the final report can be downloaded from here
