Formative assessment

Can we improve the standard of speaking and listening during group work?

Aim: The aims of our project were to improve the overall standard of speaking and listening in the classroom, enabling the children to share their ideas. We particularly wanted to improve their listening skills, to encourage the children to listen carefully to others. Our third aim was to improve on the childrens abilities to engage in conversation and be able to comment and extend on other children's ideas.

Narrative Writing Project

Aim: The overall aim of the first phase of the project was to raise attainment in narrative writing for children in Year 6. The second phase involved extending the project to all children in Key Stage 2. The first phase is complete and the second phase is still being evaluated.

Children's perspectives on formative assessment: an action research approach

Aim: The overall aim of the project was to investigate childrens perspectives on formative assessment and how formative assessment can be developed to improve learning. I was particularly interested to know how childrens perspectives on learning and formative assessment changed between Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3. I wanted to explore whether an action research approach could assist in the development of classroom practice in formative assessment.
