It has been a busy, exciting few months at CUREE  and we need some more people to help us here in our Coventry HQ. We need a:

  • Research Manager and/or Assistant
  • PA to the Chief Executive and Managing Director.

We are very good at training people (well, we'd be pretty embarrassed if we weren't!) so we are generally much more interested in your potential than your experience. We think we are particularly good at developing people at early career stages (say your first or second job out of university). We don't much care about the discipline (though some

On the 1st of June, CUREE's senior research manager (Bart Crisp) gave a presentation on Action Research at ResearchED Rugby. The presentation provides:

  • an explanation of some of the principles which CUREE encourages schools & other teaching practitioners to consider when conducting action research/teaching inquiry projects;
  • exploration of a few expansions on/alternative approaches to the model of action research which CUREE employs; and

CUREE are involved in a research project that is designed to help the Wellcome Foundation consider furthering its support for developing the scientists and mathematicians of the future. It involves integrating evidence about current CPD practice across the UK with evidence from national international evidence. 

We will be exploring how schools are helping teachers contextualise CPD for specific subjects

I always enjoy ResearchEd but the London conference on Saturday really broke previous records for sessions I was keen to get to - tricky decisions at every point!

Personal highlights

There was all the usual thought and analysis about quality and about what kind of research is useful for what purpose. But there were increasing numbers of examples of high quality disciplined practitioner enquiry (eg a really good qualitative investigation into how to make the new English curriculum
