Aim: The original aim of the project was to investigate ways to raise boys attainment in English. We were aware that our GCSE top sets were heavily weighted towards girls, with often less than ten boys in a group of thirty plus, and we wanted to address this imbalance. The main aim of the study was to close the attainment gap between boys and girls.

Aim: To investigate the nature of the demands arising from the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators' (SENCO) involvement in setting, communicating and reviewing Individual Education Plan (IEP) targets in a High School, and to consider possible ways in which effective target setting for students with IEPs in a High School can help to maximise achievement through becoming an integral part of school assessment procedures.

Aim: To increase the level of achievement among Year 7 and Year 12 pupils in a girls comprehensive school through regular mentoring interviews between pupils and teachers.

Aim: To investigate how the literacy hour, as interpreted and taught within this school, effectively supports the reading development of beginner bilingual children, and in particular their comprehension of the weekly whole class shared reading text.

Aim: To modify the structured teaching programme,"Learning to Listen" (devised for a special school) for use in mainstream nursery classes, to monitor the effects of the programme in improving the listening skills of young children and to examine the support, training and professional development implications for teachers using the programme.

Aim: The aim of this project was to investigate to what extent the thinking skills approach known as the Community of Enquiry could stimulate and support creative thinking in young children.

Aim: to identify more able children and help them to achieve their full potential.

Aim: To develop cursive writing from entry to support creative writing, to consider gender issues in the use of this approach and to summarise the impact of this approach.

Aim: To investigate factors that develop independence in problem-solving and to improve problem-solving throughout the curriculum.

Aim: The prevailing modern view of mathematical ability is one which includes creativity and transcends the more limited concept of technical ability. There is, however, little widely available material which, in a simple and accessible way, introduces secondary school age children to the world of creative mathematics. This projects main aim was to bridge this gap.
