Philippa’s Summer Blog

AlpsI simply can’t remember a summer as wet as this. Looking on the bright side perhaps it means students with hay fever had an easier exam time? It also makes weeding easier as I discovered last weekend after 6 weekends “on the road “ – a mix of work and festivities. But that’s it for the up side - so I am sharing a photo from a very sunny weekend in the Italian Alps to remind you what the sun looks like. Last time I was there in June it was snowing!

SnowdropsThe longer days and snowdrops are telling me that we are on our way out of winter’s gloom –even if the colder weather feels more wintry.

I started the year alongside teachers and researchers from 50 countries across the world at the International Congress for School Effectiveness and Improvement (ICSEI) annual conference in Malmo. It was amazing to meet senior colleagues from schools in Northumberland and Bristol alongside researchers and school leaders from Chile and Malaysia! It was also exciting to learn that people from 5 different countries were so excited by my presentation about research route maps (www.curee.co.uk/products-and-services-overview/research-sat-nav) that they decided there and then to start to import them! I kept coming across people poring  over them in coffee breaks and asking different questions about visuals, translation etc.

The Future of the Mentoring and Coaching Resources now on the TDA 'Extranet'

banner

As part of the ongoing 'rationalisation' of TDA functions and services, the decision has been taken to shut down the Mentoring and Coaching Extranet. TDA now redirects all queries about this to CUREE. You might be here because you have followed that link.

The Extranet housed the resources developed to support the National Mentoring and Coaching Framework developed by CUREE and commissioned by the Department for Education (not it's name at the time). The resources included live video clips of mentoring and coaching dialogues, enquiry tools, guides, case studies and summaries of the related research. We are evaluating the possibility of making some or all of these resources available from the CUREE website but there are some technical issues to explore and overcome before we can do this.
